CAN EXCESSIVE LEARNING RESOURCES CAUSE A BURNOUT?

A life of excess is not a good life. This thought is applicable in all spheres of our life. Very often we face extreme confusion when we come across several articles and resources on a particular topic searched on the internet. We all have spent excess time deciding which book to pick up from the library shelf since there was a wide range of choices available to us. However, excess materials and resources can also help us gather more precise knowledge. Thus, do excess resources and learning materials actually help us or cause burnout in the learning process?

Talking from personal experience, while in school we would be given annual projects of 1500–2000 words maximum. Each year I would face the dilemma of including every bit of information I have researched within that word limit since a huge variety of books and articles were available at our library. If we actually sit and vividly research, we will find out that often different books and articles, both on the internet or otherwise, consist of more or less of the same information about a specific topic.

Qualities like the style of explanation, elaboration, etc alter between them; however, the basic knowledge that they wish to impart remains more or less similar. Thus, we will often experience a loss of interest and focus when a huge variety of learning resources are available to us because we, as humans, have limited capacity to learn and process. It is absolutely impossible to read and learn from all available learning resources and platforms available to us. That is why a precise and sequential learning resource will ease the process of selecting few particular resources and learning via them.

The process of learning must be an interesting and happy one! For instance, the Pathways, curated by Zuperly, aim to deliver. Pathways is a learning platform that offers the viewer modules and courses of self-learning, in an organized, precise, and sequential form. For example, I wish to learn about digital marketing. Pathways will provide me with a dashboard that will display the YouTube links, article and pdf links, podcasts, etc in relation to that specific topic. Now, I as a viewer will find it easier and much more interesting to read, listen and learn about particular topics and issues without a possible burnout.

Rather than collecting articles, YouTube lectures, podcasts, and books from different sites and stores, we can just access Pathways, which will curate all the precise available resources for us. Thus, spending hours in the library and then surfing different sites on the internet to find all the precise learning resources will undoubtedly cause us burnout and negative emotions like anxiety and stress. This, however, can be prevented by using the platform of Pathways, which is viewer-friendly resulting in happy and efficient learning.
