How you feeling?

I’ll start. Five minutes terrified, five minutes sad, five minutes numb, five minutes denial, five minutes optimistic, five minutes horrified, 24/7 convinced we’ll get through this, 200 percent convinced we’ll be transformed forever. Also just really tired. Mentally exhausted and physically struggling. I mean, um, no no I’m good only.

You?

Remember this time last year? We were banging thalis, clapping and lighting diyas for health care workers. And look at this second wave messing with the last ounce of sanity left within us!

Hey love, be kind to yourself. You have landed on the perfect website. We hear you. And we are here for you. Team Zuperly is sending so much love to anyone who is having one of those gloomy days, whoever is feeling like giving up, whoever is feeling down. We see you, all of you! I cannot promise you everything is going to be okay right away, why would I lie! But I can help you, ask you to pop out of your beds/ comfortable bean bags and talk a bit about self-care.

Here are a few things I am going to remind you so that you stop feeling low, champ!

  1. All feelings, including the really bad ones, are temporary.

Human brains are messed up organs with a weird amount of juices running through it. At times like a pandemic we tend to find ourselves in a place where everything feels like the end of the world.

Like only yesterday I dropped and cowped an entire jar of nutella, the very last jar of nutella in my house! My absolutely favourite go-to food item, gone in microseconds. In a blink of an eye I felt like the end of the world and I almost shattered in tears.

Okay on regular days, my brain would have quickly told me, calm down Maansee it is not the last remaining jar of nutella on this planet but no! My brain didn’t help me out over here. It took me a good 10 minutes to actually realise I could just go and get another one!

This is when I realised sad feelings are like lice, they will go away once you make a conscious effort to remove them.

2. So far you’ve survived 100% of your worst days.

Oh cmon dont be too quick to judge me. I am not blindly making such statements! Here’s the thing, you don’t know if today is the last day of your struggle with all of these overwhelming feelings of sadness. And guess what? If that were true, congrats you have finally dealt past your worst days and let’s make tomorrow better than today.

3. We learn life’s most valuable lessons during dark times.

There are ALWAYS brighter days at the end of dark times. Even now, although everything seems like it’s shattering: IT IS NOT. Keep patience.

4. Some people will never understand and that’s okay.

Do you also sometimes feel like nobody gets you? You’re just out there dealing with an existential crisi but nobody seems to understand. You’re just okay my love. You have got to understand you aren’t designed for everybody and anybody to decipher.

5. It really is ok to cry if you need to.

Now please don’t start crying and then tell your parents zuperly advised us to do so! Ofcourse I am trying to imply that when you finally feel like you’ve had your share of piling up of emotions just let it go. You don’t necessarily need to cry to someone, you can just cry it out by yourself and get out of this even stronger than before. Don’t give in to the prejudice that crying is for the weak and remember after every episode of crying you’re going to have much clearer skin (so give it a thought now!)

6. You are strong enough to get through this.

If you think you’re weak, I’m constantly telling you: You are not! Because you’ve been getting through for such a long time and pretty neat so why give up now.

7. Never forget that you are not alone in your struggles.

It’s a pandemic, how did you even slightly get the idea of being in this all alone dumb dumb!

8. Tomorrow is a fresh start .

Don’t let anything hold you back, no matter how difficult it may be to overcome. Keep. Moving. Forward.

Keep your head up, things will get better.
