How often do you ask yourself, if you are really learning something or just stuffing your head with information in the pretext of learning? Most of us do not ask ourselves this question.
We tend to confuse gaining actual insight about something with just consuming information about it, just like we confuse productivity with extreme and useless labour.
The point is, when we are making the effort to learn something, we must make it count. To be clear, we must identify these modes through which we consume information regardless of necessity, and even end up missing on what is critical.
Here are a few steps to guide you through this:
1. Explore your interests.
Learning what you love is better than any random kind of learning. Before starting the cycle of gain and consumption, you must decide what it is you want to invest your time and energy into.
2. Sort your way before you start to play!
To learn in the most insightful and right manner, you must devise a map to navigate through your subject.
Start with what is most relevant to learning about a particular topic and then move your list on to the least important.
This way you will prioritize gaining information that is useful, instead of consuming everything that comes your way.
3. Make short-term goals.
Having goals and little checklists really helps in learning productively. These short-term goals will eventually lead to long-term retention!
If you are among those who think cramming/learning everything at once over the weekend is sufficient, then you are wrong!
Ideally, you should learn chunks of information everyday so you stay in touch with the subject for a longer period.
We hope today’s tips towards a more progressive and effort-worthy learning help you. Stay tuned, see you soon.
