Did you know how Larry Page & Sergey Brin got the investors to fund Google? They pitched the idea of Google in under 60 words. “Google allows you to access the world’s information in one click.” Twitter, another social media success, limits the tweets to 120 characters.

The number 140 seems so small, doesn’t it? How can you put an entire idea in just 140 words? But frankly, it’s possible. One doesn’t really have to use fancy vocabulary for this. Simple words can crack the deal!

The idea of 140 is that it spikes interest. It neither gives too much but also manages to inform the reader and keep them glued.

What if I tell you that better stories and plots have been narrated under 140 words? Surprised? Don’t be! It happens to be true. Ernest Hemmingway was presented with a challenge to write an emotional story in under 140 words. He wrote, “For sale: Baby shoes. Never used.” Get the point?

As new-age learners, we tend to look for quicker and smarter solutions, faster ways to learn and absorb ideas. When you ‘Google’ stuff, you actually type in the key-words to optimize the search. So if Google can, in just a few words, get you what you want, you too can do it!

For starters, try the following:

1. Sum up the idea

2. Organize it chronologically

3. Use thesaurus for replacing wordy sentences

4. Correct punctuations are effective

140 words is a marketing strategy. The best marketing strategies of the biggest corporates are based on effective & catchy tag-lines. For example:

1. L’oreal Paris: Because you’re worth it

2. Nike: Just do it

3. LG: Life’s Good

4. Apple: Think Different

So 140 words doesn’t seem impossible now, does it?

A method of expression and the quickest way to plot the points in the memory, 140 words is the handiest tool for learning and memorizing. Always focus on the key-words and reproduce them in a manner of asking.

Those excessively long definitions, weird names in biology, geographical phrases, the never-ending list of the events in history, and whatnot, 140 words for all these might make learning fun! Oh, how we wish the terror of Maths could be tackled in the 140 words strategy!

But for now, we know it’s possible…so try it!
