If there is one thing that has not been on hold, through this Pandemic, it is learning. Somehow, learning has found a way to keep us on our toes even through our laptops and phones. Ideally, one can never have enough of learning but one can definitely get bored!

The process of Old School rote learning has completed an era and surely gone past retirement in this digital and technological mode of life. The growing amount of screen-time and then- repeating the same thing — over and over again is frustrating! But hey there, don’t you worry, we can help you out!

Healthy learning takes place in the absence of boredom. Our brain responds to learning materials better when there is a variety in them, or something different and interesting. This makes us want to look at the subject and not run in the other direction at the thought of learning! It also helps in better and sharper retention.
This is where the magic of learning techniques kicks in. Consider it as a cheat trick that gives way to an abode of interesting ways to remember all that seems dull otherwise. The more creatively you can build a concept, the better you will learn in the process. One such technique is Mnemonics. It is efficient, it saves time, it simplifies the complexities of what you want to learn and it is much cooler than what you have been forced to do by the older generations.

Mnemonics is a way for you to learn or memorize things based on different sets of patterns. These can be visuals or jumbled words or sentences that serve as euphemisms for the real or tougher meanings.
Almost all of us have grown up using BODMAS in math to get a solution to those big equations. What is it, if not a mnemonical way of remembering the sign or step each letter stands for! Mnemonics tricks the learner’s brain into remembering things by presenting them in less monotonous ways.

So, when you recall something as small as BODMAS and not a long chain of ideas which says Bracket, Of, Division etc. your brain finds it easier and lets the whole idea enter through the gates of your memory box. It simultaneously starts developing into a full-fledged idea in your head without stress.
Think of it as a cheat code to your favorite video game. The brain does not realize how small chunks of information are fed to it, subtly! This allows for a more relaxed process of retention that does not overburden the memory and stops stress hormones from releasing excessively.

Mnemonics among the many learning techniques has been proven really useful to those who have trouble focusing on lengthier concepts. So, form your own words! Create a funny story and tell it around, figure out a visual that works best for you. Happy remembering, with Mnemonics! Stay in the
E(asy)A)(ccessible)S(mart)E(fficient) mode.
