It’s that time of the year! People start making resolutions left, right and centre. Have you made yours yet?
Setting goals or making resolutions is something that most of us do at the beginning of a new year. But, this doesn’t mean much if you aren’t able to work towards them. We created this post so that you can set goals in areas that will improve your life and ensure you meet them. Don’t worry — it isn’t as complex as you think! This post will take the pain out of developing and working towards your goals. Today we’ll see a few things to keep in mind for you to set your goals and crush them in 2022.
Set realistic goals
You could be setting personal and professional goals for the year. You might not have a say in setting your professional goals, but you very much have a say in setting your personal goals.
Set realistic goals. You will find the process enjoyable when you’re not overcommitting. You could be setting personal and professional goals for the year.
Make sure that the goals you set are realistic and achievable, so that you can enjoy reaching them. And don’t forget to share them with others, so that they can support you along the way. Take time out of your schedule today to write down what is most important to you and how you plan on achieving it. Then make an action plan so that you can achieve it.
Setting your goals is a crucial first step, but you know the hard part will be trying to keep them!
Create your process
Goals are the result. Systems are the process. The key is to obsess over what you are doing to achieve your goals and do them day in and day out.
Concentrating and perfecting your process guarantees moving towards your desired results. The key is to obsess over what you are doing to achieve your goals and do them day in and day out. You can carefully pick habits that best suit you and make that your system/process to follow.
“One step at a time”
Once you have your goals and systems in place, all that remains is executing — and that’s where most people fall short. They have grandiose visions for what their life could be, but when the daily grind sets in, they flounder. They lose focus and motivation and find themselves spinning their wheels instead of getting things done.
Your goal is to run for 100 days? Concentrate on running for a day, don’t worry about the 99 days to come. Then concentrate only on the second day then the day after and so on. Zooming out and looking at the entire task/goal could be daunting. Just concentrate on one step at a time and you’ll see your goals coming together.
It’s okay to have off days
Remember that when you are trying to achieve these goals there will be days when you don’t get things done. It’s okay to take a break from your resolutions. It’s okay to take a break from your life goals.
You don’t have to feel that you’re a failure because you deviated from what you said you were going to do. You can pick yourself up and get back on track, regardless of how many times you fall down. Don’t beat yourself up over it — don’t let anyone else do that either.
It is so easy in life to get caught up in the busyness of it all that we forget to take time each day to reflect on what we want and where we want to go. We have just entered a new year, there are 365 days ahead of us. That means 365 days to accomplish your goals and resolutions. Here’s to achieving big things this year!
