Happy new year y’all! Feeling the 2021 positivity yet?

After the almost absolutely traumatic 2020, I don’t see most of y’all expecting too much from the new year. Is it?

The metric of your success is you and your achievable goal-list. How to set achievable goals is the real question.

I’ll be honest; I love reading other people’s goals. Usually, it not only gives me things to consider for my own life or business, but it also sheds perspective on why a person is the way he or she is. This New Year’s is a big one. It’s the start of a whole new decade.

Here are 8 steps that will help you set relevant, achievable and smart goals, and stay on track with your plans.

  1. Reflect on your values and vision.
  2. To make a solid plan for a successful new year, you must know your starting point. Take a moment to reflect on the past year to know where you currently are in your life. Reflect and redirect!
  3. Set S.M.A.R.T. goals - A SMART goal is used to help guide goal setting. SMART is an acronym that stands for Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Realistic, and Timely. Therefore, a SMART goal incorporates all of these criteria to help focus your efforts and increase the chances of achieving your goal.
  4. Split goals into manageable tasks - Don’t overly burden yourself. Set achievable goals. Remember, baby steps!
  5. Stay all-organized and track your progress - Organizability is the key to success. Mold yourself in a way you’ll progress into systematics.
  6. Be flexible and make periodical adjustments - Yet another pointer of organization. Don’t get too strict with the routine that you fail to follow it. But, don’t get too comfortable either. You’re probably just gonna become a couch potato then!
  7. Drop the perfectionism - To err is human. Try to achieve your goals even though they aren’t idealistic.

All the best for 2021. I hope it’s not as moody as 2020 was!
