Not a lot of us look at studying as a passion. It’s not our passion but many of us are trying to create habits that stick around for long, when it comes to studying!

Many times we feel like we dont wanna study, but we of course want to graduate! That’s what makes us put in the hard work. And it genuinely seems like “hard” work, no?

Lets try and understand the concept of a study burnout.

Sometimes it isn’t a clearly-defined stressor like an illness leading to burnout. It can be a series of small responsibilities added or even too good things going on all at a time!

What can be signs of a study burnout? Skipping classes, repeatedly putting off assignments, study sessions, dropping grades in your course, procrastinating school altogether and the general lack of motivation.

If you identify any of these signs, welcome to the study burnout my child!

Don’t you worry, we are in this together.

Getting off track and missing our goals is normal. Our society puts a lot of pressure on working hard and achieving every goal. I’m a very driven person and am guilty of pushing myself to meet every single goal as a measure of success! I’m sure you are hard on yourself too.

Recognize, learning is a series of failures. The most important thing is to identify where you’re at now and decide where you want to be instead. These strategies help you to get back on track and recover from study burnout.

  1. Be honest

There is no point in beating yourself up over where you’re at today. Recognize where you’re at today and what level you are maintaining your study habits. Manage all of this inner chatter by allowing it to be. We have all been here at one time and chances are it won’t be the last.

Be honest with yourself and try and recover from what got you in this place!

Be kind to yourself. Appreciate the little achievements. Do even better tomorrow.

2. Take care of yourself

This may seem unconnected to you, but trust me it is not! A healthy body sustains a healthy mind!

To work efficiently it is essential all of us look after ourselves.

3. Focus on your goals

Part of recovering is regaining some motivation. It’s important to ask yourself why you are doing what you are doing. What’s going to be the end result of studying! The Degree. A career. Financial freedom! What is it that gets your blood running?

What dream fuels your motivation to study.

4. Start again slowly

I have learned recovery is much more about how you approach things than what you do. With the foundation of the first three steps, you are positioned better for success. And the process of success starts slowly. It may feel like starting over with your habits. Remember, not to give up. Especially because of the time it will take to accomplish it.

The time will pass anyway. Losers quit when they fail. Winners fail until they succeed!
