Trekking up to the snow-capped mountains to see the sunrise and the sunset always tops most of our bucket lists, and probably we would want to bring along our favorite cup of “Chai” and a book to go with that experience. When we see those mountains clad in snow, so magnificent, so serene, so peaceful, it feels like they call out to us, as if to tell us everything will be alright and rejuvenate our hope. Have you ever wondered why the mountains call out to us?
The city life that we live in today is very fast-paced, everyone is in the ‘rat-race’ where “you snooze, you lose” is well into practice. And in this chaos of competition, we find ourselves lost amongst the crowd. Our relatives and our families nagging us to do well; there is constant pressure and expectation from kin and society upon us. And in this fast-paced life, deforestation and climate issues are increasing at a rapid speed, which leads us to ponder whether humanity has lost its connection with Mother Nature. Hence, amidst all this chaos, mountains give us a perfect escape to restore our hopes, helps us reconnect with nature, learn valuable life lessons from nature and they also tell us to listen to ourselves- to our own heart.
Mountains let us introspect about life, our ambitions and offer us a peaceful time. When you look at mountains and you look into yourself; ‘what did you do wrong?’ ‘Where have you gone wrong?’ or ‘is this the path I want to follow?’ Such questions plague our minds and we start to introspect the purpose of our life and the things we want to achieve in our life. The serene and peaceful mountains also teach us to be patient and compel us to value peace. They inspire us to be one-of-a-kind and stand out from the crowd, just as mountains cannot ever be the same. They can be shadowed over by the clouds, by other ranges, by snow but they continue to remain unique and transform whatever overshadows them as ornaments, enhancing its beauty, its existence.
Therefore, if you need a break from the chaos in your life, take a break and go trekking in a mountain range. If you feel that too much is going on in your life, take a break and embark on a getaway to the mountains. You will be surprised at how much the mountains will teach you and offer you inner peace, and you will return with a rejuvenated body, soul, and mind. And as John Muir famously said, “The Mountains are calling and I must go”.
